Sitting at a computer may be the hazardous occupation of the new millennium. The repetitive actions that computer use requires, done in ways that put harmful stress on the user’s body, lead to a variety of injuries and painful conditions. The same can be said for other vocations which command repitive actions, such as musician, dancer, or athlete.

OOS, poor posture and pain result from a confluence of external and internal sources of stress.
External sources refer to the things the world does to you, such as externally imposed workloads and poor equipment and workstation design.Internal sources, on the other hand, include those things that you do to yourself. It is these internal sources of stress that the Feldenkrais Method can help you to reduce.

There are three principle internal sources of stress:
Excess effort: you work harder than you need to at what you do.
Poor body organization: you organize your actions in ways that put unnecessary stress on yourself, e.g. muscles are pulling against each other.
Lack of self-awareness: you don’t take in the information necessary to function in a healthier, more efficient way.

The scientifically founded processes of the Feldenkrais method are designed to address the internal sources of stress, reducing unconscious tension, relieving pain, and giving your nervous system the message that it can simply let go. Lessons help you become more aware of alternatives available to you and discover more fluid and efficient ways of moving.
