I offer mentoring and supervision sessions for practitioners working with babies and children, in person and online. I have helped many practitioners to develop their work with children, and empowered those who wish to start. I mentor Feldenkrais, MBS, and ABMNM practitioners, and those working in the Feldenkrais lineage including Child’space and JKA practitioners. Sessions can be based on specific questions you may have about a child, children or family you work with, general questions, or simply your curiosity and desire to learn and develop your potential for this work. I draw on extensive experience working internationally with children, babies, and their families, living with a wide range of diagnosed and undiagnosed challenges, specialised post-graduate training, and my role supervising practitioners as they work with children in postgraduate training programmes.
I’ve been receiving mentoring sessions from Sophie over the past five years and find her to be very warm, caring and professional. The way we work is that first I observe Sophie working with some of the children and parents that are my clients. Then we follow this up with coaching sessions with just the two of us either in person or via Skype. She shares her insights and makes suggestions for how I can continue to develop lessons for the children and coach the parents. These coaching sessions have been invaluable in my work with the children and parents. Sophie is extremely professional in her mentoring, listens well and communicates with great clarity. She is able to see what I need to fill in the gaps, and gives clear and effective guidelines on how to develop my work. Sophie is able to meet me where I am and to guide from there. I highly recommend mentoring with Sophie and wouldn’t have gained the clarity and depth of understanding in how to work with children that I have now without her help. I am an experienced Feldenkrais Method practitioner. I have been working with adults and children for over 15 years, and working intensively with children with special needs since 2014. I also work as a systemic coach with more than 20 years experience. I have worked in many highly professional consulting contexts and I can say it is extremely helpful to undertake mentoring with Sophie for working with children. Sophie easily understands my questions and the challenges I have in working with a six-year-old boy, who is unable to talk and has strong hypertonic patterns in all his movements. She gives me many practical tips and perspectives and helps me to learn how to integrate these new ideas into my work with him, including how to improve my way of communicating with him and with his parents. I feel challenged in many ways working with him. Sophie helps me to see how much I had already helped him and names the strengths I have as a practitioner than I haven’t seen as important until then. This gives me more confidence and encourages me to go further in my work with him. My mentoring sessions with her have also significantly improved my work with children generally. Sophie has a wonderfully calm nature, is fast at the same time, and is very clear in her explanations and teaching. She is extraordinarily sensitive to this highly emotional field in the work with special needs kids. I am very grateful for our work together. More recently Sophie met the little boy on the Working with Children training where she could mentor me in person as I worked with him, and I also got the chance to observe her working with him. So our work together continues and I am looking forward to more. Stefanie Lauterbach , working with the Feldenkrais Method, Mind Body Medicine Therapy, and as a senior Systemic Coach and Consultant
