"My child is generally quite confident in the world, but would get overwhelmed with anxiety by a specific, simple everyday activity. I was amazed at how quickly he moved out of this anxiety pattern after just a few sessions with Sophie."

All children have special needs, even those who are developing typically can experience extra challenges and difficulties in life, or simply need support to really thrive in an ever changing world. I work with typically developing children who need help overcoming a range of challenges including: anxiety; stress; hyperactivity; difficulties paying attention; learning difficulties; breathing difficulties; vision problems; recovery from chronic pain, injuries or surgery. I also work with children who want to learn a new ability or improve a skill, such as in gymnastics, dance or playing a musical instrument.
I create a neurodevelopmental learning process using touch, movement, ways of directing attention and enhancing perception, to help your child’s brain/nervous system learn new ways of functioning. This process helps your child to learn new movement and perception abilities, and develop new neural pathways in the brain/nervous system. Supporting children to improve how they move in and perceive their environment forms the basis for learning new abilities not only for moving, but also for cognition, learning, communication and behaviour. I create conditions to turn your child’s ‘learning switch’ on, and often work with play, games and a child’s closest relationships to create meaningful intentions and motivations for learning new abilities. Because humans are singular systems that are always moving, sensing, thinking, having feelings, and acting in relation to their environment, raising the level of function in any one of those areas then raises the level of function of the whole system. In Feldenkrais Method we use improving moving, sensing and perceiving as the basis for this holistic development, to help children overcome a range of challenges and thrive with this unique approach to learning.
"During sessions with Sophie we observe little miracles. Our son does new things he has never done at home. He has become more motivated, present, and expressive. His spasticity has reduced and he is making new movements and sounds. Sophie always finds the right approach with him, even if he’s in a bad mood, and supports us to work with him at home.”

“Many of my child’s movements are now made skillfully and quickly, where previously they were slow and difficult. Her body has become very flexible and soft, and she has learnt significant new abilities, such as learning to stand up and balance. She is also more present and aware, and doesn’t drift off and gabble as she used to. She really enjoys Sophie’s sessions.”

During Sophie’s sessions my son’s perception of the environment has improved, he became interested in the world around him. He moves his hands much better and his eyesight, colour perception and hearing have improved. He has learnt new ways of moving his legs and can sit in new positions.”

“My child has made significant breakthroughs in his physical and intellectual development. He has learnt many new movement abilities, his speech has sped up, he answers questions more quickly, become more communicative, and starts to look people in the eye. He has become more dynamic and his fine motor skills have improved also. He really enjoys the sessions with Sophie, and she has shown me that progress is possible WITHOUT PAIN AND HYSTERICS.”
